Ombudsmen are advocates for residents in long-term care facilities (Nursing Homes, Board and Care Homes, Specialty Care and Assisted Living Facilities). They work with all parties to protect the health, safety, welfare and rights of Alabama's long-term care residents.
Volunteers are needed to be a source of community and connection for lonely seniors. Ideally a volunteer would be partnered with one or two residents from a facility and communicate with them either over the phone, by letter, email, social media, etc.
The volunteer Ombudsman program requires at least one-year commitment from all our volunteers.
