Tax Greeters-General Interest (2023 Tax Season)

Open Opportunity

About

Register here to express interest in volunteering for the 2023 Tax Season as a Tax Greeter.   By registering now, in early November you will receive an invitation to training.

For 17 years, United Way of Central Alabama has helped thousands of low-to-moderate income people each season by preparing and filling their tax returns free of charge, bringing back as much as 2 million dollars of refunds each year.  With recent changes to tax laws and expansion of tax credits, the need for this service is bigger than ever.

Join our team and help our neighbors get free trustworthy assistance at tax time to claim the credits they are due and connect with other United Way services that can help them reach their goals.

Tax Greeters welcome customers socially distantly for their drop off appointments and match them with the Tax Preparer who will assist them.  Greeters can also help customers who are submitting documents by computer.

A brief self-paced training and open book certification is required for greeters, which can be completed in one hour or less.

COVID-19 Precautions: As a Tax volunteer you will work at the United Way office, with the option to choose whether or not you interact face-to-face with clients. Plexiglass shields are used, and masks are available to keep volunteers and customers safe during the intake process.
