If you would like to complete Advanced Training over the holidays at your own pace, we have recorded one of our live classes.  

Please register if you plan to watch the recorded Advanced Training to become a Volunteer Tax Preparer for Tax Season 2021 at United Way of Central Alabama (UWCA).  The Tax Training Study Guide has been emailed to you so you can start your training if you have expressed interest in volunteering.     


A double screen, or a second laptop is helpful, if available. You may want to set up to watch training on one screen, and prepare the return we study on a second screen.  You may also want to be able to use earphones, or be somewhere where you can listen to the class on speaker.

 Before beginning online training:

  1. YOU WILL NEED A PACKAGE TO PARTICIPATE IN TRAINING  Have you picked up a training package at United Way?  They will be on a chair outside the Auditorium overnight tonight, at 3600 8th Ave South.  Please email alemsky@uwca.org to confirm you have picked one up.
  2. Can’t pick up a package, but have a printer? 
Print the following and have ready for training:
                                   a. Print the document (Tax Training-Study Guide TY2020) attached above
                                   b, Print pages 71-120 of the Advanced test from this link -
                                   https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f6744.pdf   
                                  (There’s more in this file, but the Advanced Test is what you specifically need).

3. Set up your password for the Practice Lab, following instructions in the “Tax Training – Study Guide TY2020” above, Roman Numeral II, or follow the directions in this video.  (There is a little lag before the video starts).

You should have also received an email requesting paperwork that is needed to volunteer.  Please complete the paperwork and return at your earliest convenience.  THIS PAPERWORK IS REQUIRED BEFORE YOU CAN BEGIN VOLUNTEERING.
