NEW! Partnership with El Centro Travel Program for ESL classes!


Elon Volunteers! partners with Alamance Community College to provide tutoring for adults in the community. As a tutor, you'll be working hands-on with adult learners to help them with in-class assignments. There are three main class types:

    • English as a Second Language (ESL)
      • Geared towards immigrants who want to improve their English
      • Includes computer literacy, career readiness, & citizenship prep
    • Adult Basic Education (ABE/GED)
      • Adults working towards their GED
      • Basic up to high school level reading, writing, math, and computer skills
    • Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE)
      • For adults with intellectual and/or developmental delays and disabilities
      • Teaches skills to be successful in the classroom and workplace

Classes run Monday through Saturday at 6 different locations around town -- as early as 8:30am and as late as 9:30pm. Classes are assigned on an individual basis to best fit your individual schedule.
