About
Auburn University for Mentoring (SAM) pairs undergraduate students with local elementary school children who have been identified as needing extra help or attention at school by their guidance counselors. Mentors visit schools weekly and develop long-term relationships with their matched students, allowing them to support their academic, social, and emotional growth. These relationships are often equally beneficial to mentors, as mentors learn how to work directly with children and advocate for the next generation of students. SAM also partners with Esperanza House, a local nonprofit that provides an after-school tutoring program for children from low-income Hispanic families.
