About
The United Way Area Agency on Aging (UWAAA) Long-Term Care Ombudsman program needs your help to sweeten the holidays for Boarding Home residents in Jefferson County! Home "Sweet" Home for the Holidays is an opportunity to provide a special treat to those who are not able to be with their loved ones this holiday season. Volunteers are needed to DONATE and/or SORT desserts for the 40 participating boarding homes across the county.
If you or your organization is interested in donating, you can drop off store bought cakes, cookies, or pies beginning MONDAY, DECEMBER 18th thru WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 20th between 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Spain Community Chest Building-Board Room on United Way's Campus.
We know the holidays can get busy and finding the time to drop off donations may become a juggling act! We will also be accepting donations using any grocery delivery services such as Instacart, Shipt or Walmart if accessible. If you are dropping off your treat, please be sure to complete the donation form located on the documents tab of this opportunity.
If you are interested in volunteering to sort items, sorting will take place on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19th and WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 20th from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The shifts for sorting are the following times:
Mornings from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Afternoons from 12 p.m.-3 p.m.
Please register NOW to let us know how you plan to make the holidays a little sweeter for our Boarding Home Residents!
