Strengthen your resume and demonstrate to employers your skills at applying tax law, using tax software and working with customers to complete accurate tax returns.&nbsp;&nbsp;Free training is provided by United Way to help you complete the IRS certification required to serve as a Volunteer Tax Preparer.
This internship is an excellent opportunity to:

<li>Gain hands-on experience with the nationwide Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.</li>
<li>Build professional skills while making a meaningful difference in your community.</li>
</ul>
United Way's Free Tax Preparation works closely with the Internal Revenue Service and other qualified partners to provide free income tax preparation to individuals earning $54,000 or less.&nbsp; Tax returns are prepared by IRS-Certified Preparers and filed online through secure IRS systems. As an intern, you will play a key role in serving as a Volunteer Tax Preparer and directly supporting families in our community.

Responsibilities
<hr>
Main responsibilities include the following:
<ul>
<li>Complete free IRS training and certification to become an IRS Certified Volunteer Preparer.</li>
<li>Prepare accurate income tax returns for clients in the community.</li>
<li>Provide excellent customer service, including intake, explaining next steps, and answering basic questions.</li>
<li>Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive client information.</li>
<li>Support general site operations.</li>

Qualifications
<hr>
The ideal candidate is comfortable interacting with customers (in-person and on the phone) and is interested in learning about tax preparation.&nbsp; Some helpful skills include the following:
<ul>
<li>Interest in Business, Accounting, Finance, Public Service, or related fields.</li>
<li>Strong communication skills, including active listening and clear explanation.</li>
<li>Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.</li>
<li>Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.</li>
<li>Professionalism, reliability, and a willingness to learn.</li>
<li>Passion for helping the community.</li>
