Today I contacted the food banks in Autauga and Baldwin counties from 9-12. What I like most about this experience is that I have learned about so many resources outside of my hometown. It is so easy to be so close minded and only worry about what is going on with your own environment or town. However, seeing all of these resources for people of our state has been amazing. I never realized how much could be done here. It is easy to focus on bigger problems that are happening world wide or nationally but we also have issues to address in our own backdoor. The most challenging thing for me was overcoming the anxiety that I faced when making these calls. However, everyone I spoke with was super helpful and very friendly. The key takeaway from today is that there may be problems nationally and globally but we can also do so much here in our state as well.
